Girls’ Weekend in Branson

Kelly, Megan, & I went on a girls’ getaway last weekend to Branson, Missouri.  We left Thursday night after work and came back Sunday afternoon.  It was a great, relaxing weekend.  Here’s a summary of what we did and what we saw while we were gone.

Thursday:
We got a bit of a later start than we hoped for because I needed to work later than anticipated.  It was pretty well dark by the time we got on the road.  We went straight to our hotel when we got into Branson – the Hilton at Branson Landing.  It was a gorgeous hotel right on Branson Landing (in case the name didn’t give that away).  After grabbing something to eat, we settled into our room and started watching season 1 of the The Tudors.  (Whenever we had an hour to spare or weren’t tired enough to go to bed, we watched an episode of the show.)

Friday:
On Friday morning, we woke up and headed to do some shopping.  We went to a couple of outlet malls plus the Grand Village.  I found some goodies along the way.  After shopping and filling our stomachs with some lunch, we decided to do something a bit different that afternoon – visit the Stone Hill Winery.  After taking a brief tour of their Branson winery, we had the opportunity to taste over a dozen kinds of wine.  I really don’t have a taste for wine so I tried a few but mostly watched and listened to the others do so.  After the tasting, we shopped.  I bought a couple of different kinds of grape juice (for myself and for my sisters) and even picked up a bottle of wine for a special occasion.  For dinner and nighttime entertainment, we went to see the Magnificent 7 Variety Show.  It has an option for dinner beforehand, which we took advantage of.  The meal was excellent and very well priced for the food we got.  After dinner, we went to our seats and watched a 2 hour show filled with music from the past 7 decades.  It was a great show!  I recommend to anyone heading to Branson and looking for a show to see.

Saturday:
If you were to ask me what my top 5 favorite movies of all-time are, I would list Titanic amongst those 5 movies.  Ever since the movie came out, the Titanic’s history has fascinated me.  (In Western Civ in college, I read a book about the Titanic and wrote a report about it.)  Anyways…Branson is home to the world’s largest (and I would say major) Titanic museum.  It is ran by the man who led the team that discovered the Titanic in 1985.  We spent our Saturday morning exploring the Titanic.  After lunch, we decided to head on to the Dixie Stampede to pick up our tickets for that night’s show.  While we were there, we walked through the stable to see & take photos of the horses.  They have some gorgeous horses.  Kelly & I dropped Megan off at the hotel (because she wanted to spend some alone time in the hotel room that night) and then we headed to the Dixie Stampede for dinner and a show.  (In case you didn’t notice, we went with a show theme – dinner + show – while in Branson.)  After the show, we went back to the hotel room and decided to rent a movie on the tv.  After much deliberation, we decided on Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.  I enjoyed the movie but I must say that I had no idea what it was about and am still not really, really sure.

Sunday:
After checking out of the hotel Sunday morning, we headed north to Ozark, MO.  What’s in Ozark?  Well, it is a restaurant named Lambert’s Cafe that is known for its throwed rolls.  I got the hamburger steak and, of course, caught a roll to eat.  After we got done eating, we headed home.

Here are links to each set of photos I took while we were in Branson.  Enjoy!
