Let's Call Those Hogs! - Arkansas vs Troy - Sept 1, 2007

The University of Arkansas Razorbacks open their 2008 football season on Saturday, August 30 at home against Western Illinois.  I’m ready!

The Hogs have a new head coach this year – Bobby Petrino.  They also lost some really good players (including 2-time Heisman runner-up Darren McFadden) to graduation and the NFL.  Because of this, I’m not expecting perfection this year.  I know they can win this year (even against SEC teams).  I’m just not sure how many.  The Razorbloggers Network has a list of predictions up.  I think the 9-3 prediction is a tad far fetched.  I’m more in the 6-6 range, I think.  Knowing Arkansas, though, 9-3 could be just as possible as 3-9.

SEC Media Days were this past week.  Arkansas was picked to finish dead last in the SEC West.  Slam!  Arkansas is known for surprises so I’m hoping they’ll be the surprise of the year.  (Evidently, anything better than last will be a surprise to most.)

My season tickets are ordered and paid for.  I’m just awaiting their delivery.  (I guess they have until August 29 to be delivered.)  I can’t wait for this season.  There are going to be some pretty good home games.  We play Houston Nutt’s (our former head coach) Ole Miss Rebels at home.  We’ll have Florida at home (which kind of scares me).  We’ll also have Tulsa at home.  (Gus Malzahn, Arkansas’ 1-time offensive coordinator and former Springdale High School head coach, is at Tulsa now.)
