And, They Are Under Way

The Beijing 2008 Olympic games are now under way. As of the writing of this post, the United States is leading the medal count with 3. The announcers during the broadcast of the opening ceremonies last night said that the US is expected to lead the medal count at the end of the games. I guess we’ll see. My favorite sports during the summer games are gymnastics, swimming, and track & field. The University of Arkansas is being represented by 10 athletes, all in track & field. Go Hogs!

8/24/08 Update: The Olympics have now concluded. As predicted, the United States did end up winning the overall medal count – 110 to 100 over China. China did end up winning the gold medal count – 51 to 36 over USA.

My favorite part of the Olympics was watching Michael Phelps win 8 gold medals. He is an awesome swimmer.

I always like the gymnastics. This morning I watched USA womens b-ball win against Switzerland (???? I can’t remember, but it was pretty cool.)

China has been piling up on the golds in the 2008 Beijing Olympics Medal Count/Tally since day one. Hope the US catches up with the remainder of the swimming events and the athletics events coming up.
