Way to go, NASCAR!

NASCAR met with drivers, officials, and crew members for their top three series – Sprint Cup, Nationwide, & Craftsman Truck – today to discuss a new drug policy.  The major change in the policy is that the instead of just conducting drug testing when there is “reasonable suspicion”, there are going to be 12-14 people tested most weekends on the circuit in addition to “reasonable suspicion” tests and a preseason test for everyone.  NASCAR.com has a good article discussing the new policy.  It also includes reactions from some drivers.

Some of you that know me pretty well know that drugs are a very hot topic in my personal life right now.  I’m very happy to see my favorite sport playing a bigger role in ensuring that competitors & officials are drug-free.
