New Baby

Meet the newest member of our family.  This little one was born on Thursday.  Her coloring is so neat looking.  I don’t remember ever seeing a calf colored like this.  It should be interesting to see her as she gets older to see what color she ends up.

Dad has her & her momma in the barn lot separated from the other cattle because this little one’s momma was thinking Cinnamon was also her daughter.

I went out to the fence to take these pictures this afternoon.  Momma got between me & the baby at first but then walked off.  At this point, the baby actually started walking toward me.  (By the looks of her ears flopping in the breeze in the photos, she was walking at a pretty good pace.)

I thought this picture was so cute.  I suggested the name Curly after seeing her curl her tail like this.  Shelby vetoed, though, because she bottle fed a calf when she was younger that she named Curly.  (We haven’t been in the habit of naming many calfs, by the way.  Our bull currently has a name – Greyfox.  Dad named him when we got him as a calf.  Other than that, I only recall naming the handful of calves we’ve bottle fed over the years.  We aren’t planning on bottle feeding this little one or Cinnamon but it is still neat to give them a name.)
