New Year, New Goals

Happy New Year!

I guess a lot of folks have started resolutions for 2011.  I normally don’t try to make resolutions but I’ve tried to make some goals for 2011.  Here they are, in no particular order.

  • Take more photos. I’m taking my first photography class starting Tuesday night.  My goal for 2011 is to get more serious about taking photos.  While I’m not looking for it to be a career or anything like that, I’d love to be able to take pictures and make a little money as a hobby.
  • Get organized. One of my biggest flaws is my lack of organization.  I’m a mess.  As much as I hate to admit it, I sometimes send bills in late not because I don’t have the money to pay them but because I forget about them or just don’t have them organized enough to pay them when they are due.  I’d love to hear ideas from my readers of how they organize their bills and other mail they receive.
  • Decorate. I’ve been in my house for a little over 13 months now.  At the time I moved in, I made sure I had the 1st floor (with 1 bedroom, which is mine) furnished and decorated (or at least decorated enough that it didn’t look undecorated).  My sisters have started a little hobby business and so I’ve commissioned them to do some canvases for me to put some finishing touches on my entryway, dining room, & living room.  Besides these little projects, I’d like to get my office finished upstairs and try to have a guest bedroom set up by the end of 2011.
  • Eat out less, cook more. My favorite hobby (even above photography) is cooking.  I love to cook.  The problem I have is that cooking for 1 is kind of boring so I tend to grab something at a fast food place as opposed to cooking myself something to eat at home.  I’m going to try to find things, like casseroles, that I could fix and maybe freeze part of it or have leftovers throughout the week.  I also think, if I eat more at home, I can make my diet a bit more healthier.
  • Blog more. This sort of goes along with the photo goal.  I’d like to not only blog more about personal topics.  I’d also like to turn my blog into more of a photoblog especially as I start taking more and more pictures.  I’ve started trying to look at layouts and think more about this site and what I want it to be in the future.  Stay tuned.
  • Spend more time with God. This week at church we are going to be doing an intensive bible study and fast.  I’ve chosen to fast from social networking, specifically Twitter & Facebook.  A daily bible study is something that has been lacking from my daily routine for far too long.  I’m hoping to change that, starting this week.  Do any of you have a daily bible study (in book form, online, etc) that you recommend for me that I could use starting next week?

I don’t think any of these goals are out of reach.  I also think several of them are related to one another.  For example, getting my office set up will help with my organization.  Organizing my life more with help me ensure I keep the time set aside each day to spend time with God in prayer & bible study.

I’d love to hear from you. I know I have some readers that had ideas or thoughts as you were reading through my goals.  I’ve love to hear each and every one of them.

I know that as long as you set your mind to it, you will do anything. I believe that you can accomplish, most, if not all of your goals in one way, shape or form.

I am excited that you’re taking a photography class! Yay!

Pretty much everything you have put as resolutions, with a few additions/subtractions are my own.

[...] I mentioned in my New Year’s post, two of my 2011 goals revolve around blogging and photography.  As you can see, my blog has [...]
